Federal Judge Rules Corporate Transparency Act Unconstitutional

Various news outlets are reporting that a federal judge in Alabama has ruled that the Corporate Transparency Act is unconstitutional. U.S. District Judge Liles C. Burke decided in early March that the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) is unconstitutional on the grounds that Congress exceeded its powers in enacting the law and any rulemaking stemming from it is unlawful. Click here to read more.

Pending Home Sales Drop 4.9% in January

Black Knight Says Foreclosures Approach Two-year Lows

The National Association of Realtors is reporting that pending home sales in January, 2024 dropped 4.9%. The NAR’s Pending Home Sales Index came in at 74.3 in January. Click here to read more.

 

FHFA Says Home Prices Up 6.5% Year Over Year

According to the latest Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) House Price Index (HPI), home prices home prices rose 6.5% between Q4 2022 and Q4 of 2023. In addition, FHFA’s seasonally adjusted monthly index for December was up 0.1% from November. Click here to read more.

Zumper’s National Rent Report for February ’24

Rental information site Zumper recently released their latest monthly National Rent Report for February, 2024. According to their data, median rent for 1-bedroom apartments was $1,482 (down 0.9%) and $1,837 (down 0.5%) for two-bedrooms. Click here to read more.

 

S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Says Home Prices Increased 5.5%

The latest S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller U.S. National Home Price NSA Index reported a 5.5% annual change for December, 2023. Click here to read more.

GDP Up 3.2% at the End of 2023

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis is reporting that America’s real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 3.2% in Q4 2023. Click here to read more.

U.S. Construction Spending Drops Slightly

The U.S. government is reporting that total construction spending in January, 2024 was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2,102.4 billion, which is 0.2% lower than December’s revised estimate and is 11.7% higher than one year ago. Click here to read more.
