U.S. Homeownership & Rental Vacancy Rates for Q1 2026

The U.S. government is reporting that the national vacancy rates for Q1 2026 were 7.3% for rental housing and 1.1% for homeowner housing. The national homeownership rate for Q1 was 65.3%. Click here to read more.

 

FHFA House Price Index Says Prices Up 1.7% Year-Over-Year

According to the latest Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) House Price Index (HPI), home prices rose 0.2% in February, 2026 and were up 1.7% year-over-year. Click here to read more.

HUD Announces that Fannie & Freddie will Allow Credit Scores with Rent Payments

The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development recently announced that the Federal Housing Administration, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac will adopt new mortgage credit score models, including VantageScore 4.0 and FICO 10T. Click here to read more.

 

Housing Starts Up 10.8% in March

The U.S. government is reporting that privately‐owned housing starts in March, 2026 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,502,000, which is 10.8% higher than February’s revised number and is also 10.8% higher than one year ago. Click here to read more.

Zumper’s National Rent Report – April ’26

Rental information site Zumper recently released their latest monthly National Rent Report for April, 2026. According to their data, median rent for 1-bedroom apartments was $1508 (up 0.4%) and $1895 (up 0.8%) for two-bedrooms. Click here to read more.
